Overview

What is the Subclass 407 Training Visa?

The Subclass 407 Training Visa is a temporary visa that allows people to come to Australia to participate in occupational training activities. It's designed for people who need structured workplace-based training to improve their skills in their current occupation.

Unlike the 482 work visa, the 407 is specifically for training — not permanent employment. The training must be structured, supervised, and relevant to your current or future occupation.

The visa can be granted for up to 2 years and requires a sponsoring organisation approved by the Department of Home Affairs.

Three Activity Streams

Occupational Training
Workplace-based training to obtain registration or licensing, or improve skills in your current occupation.
Capacity Building Training
Training sponsored by an Australian government agency for the benefit of a developing country.
Registered Training
Training provided by a registered training organisation for a specific purpose.
