Frequently Asked Questions
Are these migration calculators free?
Yes. All Magpie Consultants migration tools are free to use, need no sign-up, and keep your answers in your own browser. Nothing is stored or sent unless you choose to share your result with us.
How accurate are the migration tools?
Each tool follows the official government rules (the Department of Home Affairs points tables, or the relevant state’s published criteria) and shows the date it was last checked. Rules can change at any time, so always confirm on the official website before you act. The result is an estimate, not migration advice.
What is the difference between the PR points calculator and the Victoria points calculator?
The PR points calculator uses the federal SkillSelect points test, where you need at least 65 points to lodge an Expression of Interest for a 189, 190 or 491 visa. The Victoria points calculator uses the separate Victorian Points Test (out of 950), which Victoria uses to rank Registrations of Interest for state nomination. If you want Victorian nomination, you need both.
Which states have their own points system?
Victoria ranks Registrations of Interest with the Victorian Points Test (out of 950) and the ACT ranks applicants with the Canberra Matrix. Both are separate from the federal 65-point test. Use our Victoria points calculator and Canberra Matrix calculator to estimate each score.
Can a registered migration agent check my calculator result?
Yes. Umar Ashraf, a registered migration agent (MARN 2619222), can review your points claims and evidence before you lodge an EOI or ROI. You can send your result on WhatsApp from any calculator or book a consultation.
